Pros
Although slightly slower when spinning up the drive performs well, lots of storage. Easy to use - drag and drop and accepts and stores big big files quickly. Bery happy with the 5tb space.
Seagate is a superb brand from external drives. It was immediately recognized by windows. The 1tb is more than sufficient for most domestic, non-techy users to backup their data.
Cons
I was sadly disappointed with the shoddy product presentation. Rubbish, appalling products and service. Very disappointing and frustrating.
The write speed is shockingly bad, using usb3. It is advertised as usable on macbook but there is no way to drag files into it. Absolute waste of money and am not touching a seagate hard drive again. Can't even write a few mbs of word documents withou... Read More
Unable to gain any further access to it and so dispatched it to the tip. Am returning for refund and will look elsewhere. They now have both my money and the defective hard drive.
They produce weird error messages in the system log, and won't spin down into a standby mode at all. In this mode, they are completely silent and draw no measurable power. It keeps disconnecting when moved even slightly making it basically unusable.

Bought it for my father, seagate, as always, delivers really well and we're very happy with the quality.
A very good product, i'm already an owner of a larger seagate terabyte drive and its given me no problem's in 3 years.
It is working well under that environment complying with the fictionality that i needed, it was a good purchase.
It's a remote hard disc so it's hard to get too excited.
Price
I thought the price was a little steep, so it only gets 4 stars not 5.

Did the job, really fast transfer rate.
Competitiveness
Brought this to replace my full 2tb unit which was also seagate.
The unit was bought to work as an external backup of my synology nas, running hyperbackup.

Its hmmm you must have a power supply ie its not powered via usb so its not a 100 portable withoutyou do get a host of adaptors within the package so whereever you maybe you shouldnt be stuck without the correct plug choice

To this day im surprised theres not a small memory chip within the circuit board to store such data leaving the full volume to the user
