The problem is they definitely only last about 20k hours about 2 years if the pc stays on

Ok thats all pretty doom and gloom but assuming your like me and 3 4 day recovery times are inconvenient but fine you could easily have coordinated failures with other drives that were significantly more reliable or loose data due to accidental delete or due to russian malware encrypting your data

So thinking that raid56 on your super reliable drive is safe is foolish anyway leaving you back to the common solution of external usb drive backups anyway
