I have this installed in an external 2-bay usb disk chassis, connected to an intel nuc. For formatting was using paragon hard disk manager.

No issues as of yet. Oldest is ~5yrs old and still runs without issue. The others are ~3 & ~2yrs old. for me, none really. big, big and big.

Cons

Most drives will silently remap a failed lba in the background, but this failed and seatools was unable to remap it. Seagate rma sends re-certified which fail again causing tons of data loss.

I'm not going to pay extra for seagate to pre-ship me a replacement drive.

The bare drive installed easily and was recognized by bios and windows 10 without a problem.

I did try nas (i know, not recommend) and, unlike some other users, i found it was very error prone.

Hard drive works great with no lagging.

Price

Lots of storage space for the price.

So far this is an exceptional value - having the room to store so much data is such a relief.

Dollar for dollar, these are the cheapest option for storage.

I mainly needed this amount of storage for my music and movie collection and this was by far the cheapest way to get 8tb of storage.

Shipping

I bought direct from amazon, warranty check was about 2 and 1/2 years.

And arrived alot faster than i anticipated.

Packaging/appearance

Bought this along with the kdlinks box, and haven't experienced any problems.

Competitiveness

As result, i have used a lot of different hard drives from all of the major drive manufacturers.

I usually buy wd drives but this one was the best price/size at the time.

Having had good luck with them, it was an easy choice when comparing price to performance to pick up this drive.
