It provides real 'bang for your buck' in terms of storage per dollar. Easily portable nice size. Fast, quiet and does not heat up too much as i said boring but useful.
Synology rs819 comes pre-formatted with an ex-fat partition which requires an additional $5 licence from synology.
Cons
This really is a case of you pays yer money. Tried everything possible to retrieve data including local it store's expert but to no avail. Returned for refund.
The'sound of silence' pervaded when plugged into my imac. I presume that it was either the cable or connector that was at fault. It kept on connecting and disconnecting itself.

Only had 500gb internal storage before but can now download all the games and expansions i want without having to uninstall anything.
I already had a 1tb seagate so i know they are reliable i needed more storage space for games that’s why i invested in 5tb this time.
This large 2tb capacity, small footprint, external drive is quiet to run.

I was then asked if i wanted to format it for games which i did and then it was just a case of copying across games from my previous 2tb xbox external hard drive which was done via the xbox settingsdevices menu

It sounds like a small amount of power is being sent to the external drive which moves the head that makes the click noise before it shuts down again

Once this begins happening its necessary to turn the xbox off completely in order to resolve the issue but after a while the issue returns
