Pros & Cons
Pros
The seagate nas plugs directly on your home network (router/hub) and can be accessed by any device that will connect to a'shared' drive. It has multiple file sharing capabilities from ftp to nfs. The only issue is that it does not fully integrate with... Read More
Mb/second for downloads and 12. Mb per second for uploads. I get transfer rates of more than 15mb/s on my gigabit network.
Easy to setup for the technically savvy.
Tb unit has two one-terabyte drives.
There is no mention of firewall interference in the small quick install manual. The menus make perfect sense to me and work fine in my browser. Dhcp works fine.
Cons
Based on my perusal of the forums, seagate seems to support their nas customers less (at least on the forums), though neither company is real great in that respect. Like reviewers spivak and dobbins, i too am very disappointed that a company like seag... Read More

Highlights
Quality
The product runs smoothly, has an embedded software that helps you run it via web.
I am impressed with the speed and access to files wirelessly.
Seems the problem was with the firmware resulting in false positives when testing the drives.
However, at this time, i am satisfied with the nas drive.
Price
But then again, it only cost $250.
Packaging/appearance
However, out of the box, i'm breathing a big sigh of relief.
Competitiveness
So two little glitches in over 4 months of use doesn't seem bad--especially for 4tb at this price!
My first nas was the hp mv2020 media vault that used a linux o/s and offered 500gb storage with gigabit network connectivity.
