Pros

Year warranty and mtbf of 2. Years. Support for tler/erc, which i was worried about, so if anyone has similar concerns, this drive supports the command. Bought a few 14tb drives from the seller hyperhawk. These drives are under warranty until 2027!

While it is idle, it is quiet. They are a little noisy, but not a big deal for me as they're going to be sitting in a rack in my basement anyways. The only mild complaint is that it's a tad bit noisy.

Cons

Seagate only provides the warranty to the end user, which means only if you buy a retail hd, but not a gray market oem drive. Software is reporting it as defective.

Seems unlikely that seagate even produces a consumer style package for this class of product.

And the price is exceptionally reasonable at just over two hundred bucks.

If the price drops enough, i'll add another or maybe even two more down the road.

Competitiveness

I purchased 4 of them to put into one of 3 supermicro sys-5018r-m 1u servers.

I built a 12 bay synology with each bay having this drive and created a cloud storage system.

Running in a older synology ds415+ with two 8tb ironwolfs in the same volume.

I have no explanation, but lately, larger exos drives are cheaper per terabyte than ironwolf drives.
