Pros

The msi desktop is whisper quiet. This is faster (of course 7200rpm vs 5200rpm), and quieter surprisingly. The only mild complaint is that it's a tad bit noisy.

The exos x16 is a helium-filled, 9 platters, and have none of the drive bay limitations enforced on the ironwolf pro and ironwolf models. It's big enough for my massive collection of movies, shows and music with about 5tb of space left for more files.... Read More

My advice when purchasing these drives is to think about your use case. I know that is contested, but i’m saying it anyway. These are great drives as long as you are getting the 5-year seagate warranty that is advertised.

Received cyclic redundancy error. Seagate's warranty website is non functional. The only option is 'live chat' which does not function properly, and with people who legitimately do not speak english well.

I’m pretty happy with the product and seller.

Already owned a 8tb exos and it's still working fine after some years, let's see if this one keeps up with the quality.

Unfortunately the product didn't work when it arrived and appeared defective - 'stuff' happens.

Seems unlikely that seagate even produces a "consumer style" package for this class of product.

Price

Even if it were to fail in a few years i'd likely get another one, because the price is so reasonable.

The price is also meager $210 - $15 per tb!

Got mine for 199$, so for that price 14tb is a steal!

Shipping

Some sellers are shipping drives that do not have a valid usa warranty.

Credit to the seller, who provided a shipping label for return and issued a quick refund.

Competitiveness

Im using a synology diskstation and the drive runs quitely and ive had this modle for close to a year so far

I checked the serial number on seagate's website and it reported the full 5-year warranty as expected.

I bought a exos x16 14 tb from the seller hyperhawk.

I have no explanation, but lately, larger exos drives are cheaper per terabyte than ironwolf drives.
