Pros

Seagate st8000vn004-2m2101 model shipped in an ok timeframe. Amazon quotes five-year limited product warranty protection plan and three year rescue data recovery services included.

The problem is with amazon, not seagate. Seagate does honor the warranty (until november 2024, about 3 years) but the buyer pays for return shipping, which is meh. Stick with western digital or better with samsung evo ssds. This datum is not compatibl... Read More

Amazon refuses to make things right even though they have offered a partial refund several times then later goes back on their word to do so. Pretty scammy wording company.

It is very common for sealed anti-static pouches to be puffy at our 5,000'asl elevation. It is impossible to use this hard drive, it feels like someone is sitting in it and knocking with a sledgehammer.

I am going with the five-star rating as i understand occasionally products fail.

I've never gone wrong with the ironwolf, started with 2tb, to 4tb to 8tb and now 10tb using it on my synology ds420

Just stick with the standard software raid 5 capability built into windows.

Please note that the ironwolf line of seagate drives are designed for professional use in data center servers.

The price was a little more than a standard hard drive.

Shipping

They aren't as fast, but they make up for it in reliability.

Works really well on my server and it is pretty fast.

I use these in a synology ds418 four-drive unit.

An enterprise nvme drive has an expected life of 6 months in a nas raid.
