Pros

It's clear that seagate has put serious thought into both the performance and longevity of this drive. Specs are identical to old drives with exception of size and cache. Quiet operation ensures a pleasant environment in my home server setup.

Tb seems a bit louder than the 4tb ironwolf drives i had but liveable. These 12tb drives are 4k sectors with emulated 512bit sectors. These new drives are a little noisier than 4tb’s but the density is wonderful.

Cons

When attached via usb dock, computer freezes. Tried to connect it to different sata ports, got same results. I suspect the apple private relay is causing a problem.

Seagate only offers support through their understaffed chat system. Their support is chat only with off-shore individuals who give lots of platitudes but little results.

Product is great,been running iron wolf drives for many years.

Drive works good, cool and transfer speeds are about 250 mb/s, as expected.

Should they after 1 year, no, but anything electronic can fail.

This 4t seagate drive however, has died after purchasing a year ago.

Price

Not cheap but i'm hoping that they will pay off long term.

Sold by all4computers at the best price i could find here or at other merchants, including the "egg" one.

If you are not sure or have a problem instating drive i strongly suggest going to seagate and get discwizard.
