The new disk arrived as promised and works perfectly - albeit after another lengthy volume rebuild.
Packaging/appearance
Came well packaged for a hard drive which is what you would expect, fast delivery, worked out the box, no issues
Always unsure to buy mechanical drives from amazon in case they are not well packaged.
As shown in the picture the box says st4000vnz06 contains st4000vn006.

Following a lightning strike my original 4 tb ironwolf drive was damaged and replaced with an 8tb drive

The ups was supposed to protect it but was also fried—the problem of living with overhead electrical supply cables and many thunderstorms per year

Only concern on installation was that synology os gave a warning message that this drive is not on its 34approved list34 however proceeded anyway
