Quality
Sound quality is a huge step above the default mic setup on my camera.
I know there’s better sound quality out there but this is definitely better than the in camera mic.
Competitiveness
So far, i'm very pleased with takstar sgc-600 mic.
I have the mic routed thru a saramonic pax 2 preamp, which is attached to my fuji xt2 camera.

Sound does drop off with distance but you can still hear muffled sound from the sources

If you don’t turn it on it doesn’t work so make sure the mic is on before hitting record

If you really want to get the best of it read the manual and check the sensitivity settings in your camera as well
