I paired this 12 foot rod with the okuma 8k spinning reel and as far as i'm concerned, it's a perfect surf fishing combo!
The quality is there just like my other shorter ugly sticks.
Size went up and the quality remained the same.
Price
For the price, i cant see how you could go wrong!
Competitiveness
I wing 6oz sputnik sinkers with whole finger mullet, rod handles it no problem.
This is the second uglystik rod i own.
Works good, got my long casts out from shore throwing 4oz sinker and bait.

However when you are trying to do a more controlled cast it’s too much distance between the grips
