I do recommend at least a quick sweep up before use and if its a mess thats not fresh or something def easier to hand clean as it doesnt have much ooph for my house lol

Other reviews mention cleaning the vacuum is timeconsuming but honestly its not its intuitive you just pop out the dirty water container dump it rinse the filter and roller brush
