They're really for marking things like a normal sharpie, but color coding them. Great for taking notes and writing on my calendar. They write so smoothly on a variety of surfaces and dry instantly.

Recent purchasers of this set are also experiencing dried out markers. They write like old sharpies that have run out of ink. Once the pen and cap are separated, just do not push the cap on all the way.
