Pros & Cons
Pros
The pen is lightweight and comes with a tight-fitting cap with a metal clip. The top also has an attached silver metal clip for anyone old-fashioned enough that they want to clip this in their shirt pocket. Bold and glide with ease.
It's probably the first pen i've borrowed from someone, asked what it was, and ended up making the switch to it for myself. For casual everyday use, these are great. They are also reliable and none have sprung a leak so overall a win.
There's a simple pleasure in the individual expression of jotting down a quick note. The line it leaves is vivid without skips and doesn’t smudge on a notebook. They make my handwriting look a lot better than most other pens.
The sharpie roller is actually the smoothest-writing pen of the bunch. My favorite is still the zebra g-301 as it just feels best in my hand. Number two is the uniball signo gel 207.
Cons
Big letdown. Pen writes as if already out of ink. Black ink is so inconsistent it stops writing 75% of the time.
Highlights
Quality
I love sharpie pens for reliability, vivid black lines, and ease of use.
The ergonomic design and smooth writing make this one of my favorite pens.
If you smear your hand over it right after writing, you will get some slight tiny smears, but in just a few more seconds it is ... Read More
If you look at the photo of the writing samples of each pen you can see there is almost no difference in the quality of the output.
Price
These are a good, inexpensive pen; the price is ok, not great, at the moment of just over a $1.
The clip is nice and doesn’t catch on your pocket like others, and at about $1.
Packaging/appearance
The packaging is super cool--they are all clipped to a little cardboard divider in the box.
I usually get them in packs of four but was really excited to see a larger pack offered.
Competitiveness
I compared the sharpie roller (stick) pens to three other 0.
75 each they cost less than the uniball.
The pen is serviceable and will get the job done, but its more like other pens than being a branded sharpie experience.
On the other hand the sharpie rollers are very similar in cost to the g2 and the signo 307, which both generally sell in the $1.
