Im really very picky when it comes to characternarrator voice and morgan stang somehow managed to nail nearly everything i couldve wanted in a thirdperson pov narrative voice

I found that the story and worldbuilding admittedly wound up taking something of a backseat but i personally liked that because to me the details about the kingdom at large and the citiesvillages within and the mythical creatures that inhabit its wilds— theyre not the point of the book

And i will also say that while i enjoyed this read immensely i think that it will require a very specific mood for me to pick it up again for a reread though this is by no means a bad thing

In the first half i was a bit letdown as the pace was slow and there was an innocence and humor that didnt fit the description
