Pros & Cons
Pros
Ten cases for you to solve, each with it's own set of clues and characters. Takes a couple of hours to solve and makes you think what your next step should be. Worth the price, given the entertainment value.
The cooperative style of the game makes it great fun for just a couple or several players to enjoy together. If you enjoy a very analytic game that you play by yourself or with one or more teammates -- rather than competing with one another -- this ga... Read More
It is always challenging, but don’t expect to beat sherlock. The closest we have come to beating him so far is 85 to 100. Having something to write on when you play this to keep track of where you go as clues you find might have you trace back what yo... Read More
If you’ve got an inquisitive mind (think ravenclaw students, lol) and love */mysteries then this game is for you! He never bites on a red herring, which is nearly impossible for us mere mortals.
Cons
Loses my interest after 1st hour of play. Directions are a but cryptic. Main thing is the flaws in translations. I'll stick with the exit boxes, they are more entertaining.
Highlights
Quality
I was very impressed with the quality of the materials included with this game.
The amount of detail, complexity, and well thought out clues makes the game incredibly fun to play (and solve).
Not replayable unless you have short term memory loss.
Never played a board game with an open world mechanic like this - almost plays like a video game.
Price
The value is tremendous because each separate story/game is about 1-2.
It's really ten games--there are ten cases--so the steep price turned out to be totally worth it.
(on the pricey side, but for us, it's been well worth it.
I have wanted to try the murder mystery games for a long while but could not see spending $30-$50 for one evening of play.
Packaging/appearance
Number one: the thickness of the box has been perfect for a laptop booster for zoom calls.
He loves it even more since he opened it and looked at it.
I'm very excited that there are 3 more boxes to buy!
The box was surprisingly heavy because of all the reading materials.
Competitiveness
Still a lot of fun getting there and there are bonus points along the way to get you closer to holmes' score.
We both agreed to abandon the scoring system since we (along with many others who’ve reviewed on amazon and other websites) got... Read More
(we don't play it to compete against sherlock.
My suggestion to anyone playing is, don't compete with sherlock.
