The only time i would say to not get these is if you are extremely weight conscious because they are noticeably heavier than clipless only pedals but if you want pedals that are clipless on one side and regular on the other this would be the one to get

I didnt find the learning curve bad with these and generally ride clipless now unless i am just going on a short ride somewhere

I would recommend starting out on a closed course if you are new to cliplessin other words on trails where there is no automotive traffic to worry about and also to attempt a couple of emergency stops in controlled conditions to ensure you get used to unclipping when you need to stop

I dont believe ive ever seen a bicycle crank where the pedal mounting hole wasnt drilled all the way through but if such an animal does exist these pedals will not work
