Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

This is the simple plastic tool that you do need to remove your shimano crank arm. Worked like a charm removing the plastic cover/set screw on shimano ultegra left crank. Grip tines on the large circle allows for hand/finger removal and re-install.

Cons

This is not the proper tool if you intend to apply the correct torque. There is no place to insert a socket nor is there anything to attach a wrench. Get something metal instead of this chew toy for your dog.

Quality

Best, easiest and most reliable way remove the fixing bolt on hollow tech crank arms.

Easy to use and very appropriate for intended use.

This set of wheels are rock solid.

It's only made from plastic but it holds up well enough for occasional use while being cheap.

Price

Small, inexpensive, durable, and does exactly what you would expect.

Knocking a star off because it's 3x the price it should be for being a simple little piece of molded plastic.

It can't cost shimano more than $0.

Pricey for what it is, but it does what it’s supposed to do.

Shipping

Tool arrived on time , works fine .

Fast and efficient transactioni greet and recommend

Delayed my build for four days (would've been two days but the great california snowstorm of 2023 caused a delay in shipping).

Competitiveness

Needed this for working on shimano 105 and tiagra hollowtech ii cranksets.

Shimano should include this tool along with all their cranksets instead of expecting the user to buy it separately.

Was attempting my first try at replacing my old claris 2400 triple crankset on a octolink/square to the newer sora r3000 triple...  Read More

You dont need a metal tool or anything more expensive than this

If youre installing or removing a shimano hollowtech type crank you need this to tightenremove the little locking cap piece

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Its a bit expensive for what it is an incredibly basic tool made of plastic hand tightened but you definitely dont want to mess up your crankset by trying to hack it with a screwdriver or something

Not very happy my new cranks didn’t have one of these to remove old one but this did the job

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

So simple and im almost befuddled that its a plastic tool but the bolt that is tightens down is critical ive seen arms fall off before because someone didnt put the fixing bolt on
