I got the r1000 with the matching shimano rod from my dad when i was 8 years old im now 30 and it still works perfectly fine i even took it apart recently and was surprised to find the insides hardly looked worn at all

After a couple of rod upgrades i ended up with one that this reels base is too small to mount and had to get something else

Now if you get a big fish on and it is screaming line out and you need to adjust your drag
