Pros & Cons

Pros

Shimano thunnus is great for freshwater fishing. Rinses well after saltwater exposure and greasing up every year is unbeatable. Great for surf casting.

It's got an exceptionally smooth drag and the oversized handle makes for an easy retrieve. Despite some very hash treatment, the reel is still as smooth as it was when i first purchased. The reel is balanced and reasonably lightweight.

My only real complaint is cost. It's a shimano, and as usual they do deliver quality, dependable products.

Reel is light yet very sturdy and robust. Very good drag.

Quality

First: it's a shimano, and as usual they do deliver quality, dependable products and they stay behind the product as well.

I paired this up with the tsunami airwave and it is by far the best rod and reel combo i have ever owned.

Even with the very small diameter of the fireline, the 6000 is a bit small.

(i did own a van staal for a few months, and traded it in for the thunnus.

Price

The amazon price was the best i could find anywhere.

I am a fan of the shimano reels but don’t like the cost.

Shipping

‘the reel arrived with the box wrapped in bubble wrap so very well protected for shipping.

Competitiveness

These are the best baitrunner reels i have ever own.

I was deciding this or the shimano baitrunner and super glad i went with this one.

I’ve seen this rod pull in a 100lb yellowfin.

It’s a shame we don’t build things like this here for a reasonable cost but that gets into too much political talk
