There was some metalbending on my husbands part not the avatar kind and some replacing of parts including this derailleur

If you look closely you will see that the locking nut has a groove in it

Needed to replace the factory derailleur on a cheap store brand bike

This did the trick but the mounting was tricky because the bike did not have a normal derailleur mount on the frame
