Just had to replace the rear derailleur for a medium size the original small one shifts no problems but the mechanical ratio or diameter doesnt change

Its a slow process so you dont realize at the time when your shifting starts to get worse

I swapped out a chain and was still getting some chain skip on the cassette and shifts were sometimes slow to respond
