Pros & Cons
Pros
These pedals are awesome. The once wish is that they be lighter but then that might compromise their sturdiness. These things are beast for the money.
These pedals are easy to install (remember there are left and right side pedals), sturdy, easy to adjust and clip in to. Easy to install and light weight.
This pedal system is highly recommended for good reason. Have always worked flawlessly. Much more forgiving.
Cons
If you spin these pedals by hand, they stop almost immediately because the bearings have so much friction. A few months later, same problem. I flip them at my next stop and eventually they start to grind again.
My maiden voyage was only 1 mile or so in a local park. One thing that i didn't like about these pedals is that once your clipped in, there is play in the foot. This is not okay, especially when you're trail riding and can't clip out to save yourself.... Read More
As an experienced cyclist (25 years)who has used many shimano pedals over the years, the 520l spd is truly disappointing. They are heavy, sloppy, and much harder to get in and out of. The m540s have much better spindle bearings.
Highlights
Quality
Great replacement for my old clip in pedals, came with the cleats, easy to install.
Otherwise, really excellent quality and just what i was looking for.
Probably not good for muddy conditions as grit in the cleat can interfere with the somewhat smaller interface.
I have lots of road bike peddles in my work shop with the shoes to match but they will never be used by me again.
Price
I like the price and i hate the color
Shipping
Shipping took a while but the pedals are great!
Competitiveness
These are my first clipless pedals and they’re great.
This being a double sided pedal, is perfect for beginners learning to ride clipless pedals.
Never had a foot unclip when putting down power.

Such great pedals but for the love of god do not be an idiot like me and think ”oh let me try attaching my shoe to this before hooking them up to the bike” and then putting them on the wrong pedal

Took me 45 minutes to get them off

Also make sure those clips are secured tightly to your shoes otherwise they won’t come off for another 45 minutes

Any problems with the equipment are related to my own lack of gracefulness
