Pros & Cons
Pros
Spd pedals are recessed so you can walk on them. Put these on my schwinn ic4. The spindles are identical to the standard spindle used in most shimano road applications.
It is quicker and easier get into and out of these pedals than it was to do the same thing with my previous mtb pedals with the half toe cage. Regreasing them is very easy. It allows you to tighten the grip to your clips. Much better than the original... Read More
The pedals are also over 15 years old, so i'm not sad about having to replace them. Swapped those pedals out for these. Save a buck and get good product.
The old ones are a bit scratched here and there, and they've taken a few dings, but are still working flawlessly after more than a decade. Always reliable and trustworthy, besides being durable. A bit heavy but decent quality.
Cons
Clipless pedals for a stationary bike are not great. The seal on one pedal went bad in less than a month and the pedal starting clicking like crazy. After the return window closed they now creak constantly.
Highlights
Quality
These pedals are very well made, easy to adjust tension, and easy to install.
These were easy to install and appear to be very durable.
It was impossible to clip into the pedals that came with the bowflex c6 - after 2 hours i only got the left foot clipped in.

Price
They are priced great and i would recommend them!
This is an excellent, affordable clip on pedal.
It is worth spending the extra money (i got mine on sale and they were actually cheaper than the knock offs!
Just spend the $50 and make your life so much better.
Competitiveness
The spindles utilized in this model of these pedals are identical to the standard spindles used in most shimano road applications.

I prefer spd’s and shimano offers these as a very good option.
I have two exercise/spin bikes and now both bikes have the identical shimano-brand spd pedals.

In my opinion id only ride the 520s or the xtrs

The xt pedals have the same issue with rust as the 520s but also the exposed part of the spindle has rust

So far the xtrs have no rust but they are only 3 years old

The only cosmetic issue with the 520s is rust on the springs and the exposed chrome
