Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

Great addition to a great microphone. Comes in two pieces that look like they alone lock onto the microphone. I like the locking cover, and how the screw doesn't actually touch the mic.

Works as advertised. Sure makes solid equipment. Does exactly what it says in the description.

Windscreen turns the 57 into a great handheld mic. It rejects pops and sibilance way better than the sm58 grille. Looks professional on camera, works great at a podium or handheld 57.

Fits ths sm57 perfectly. Seems pretty durable. And the grey one (imo) looks pretty awesome on it!

Cons

It is completely unusable for anything closer imo. Without the screw that holds the foam windscreen to the microphone, the windscreen falls off. If your goal is to stop close mic popping, this is not your friend.

Quality

Easy to install over existing mic, one set screw to tighten

Very easy to install and does an excellent job.

Or go with this one and shure made "sure" the foam is thin and doesn't change the sound structure.

The fastening mechanism is weird and i'm not even sure how exactly it's supposed to fit on an sm57.

Price

I looked at filters for my sm57 mic for a while as i use it for streaming when not recording music, and although this was a bit...  Read More

And it doesn't cost $400 or require a preamp.

The cheap pop filter that came with my microphone mount.

100% overpriced though by at least a few dollars.

Packaging/appearance

Loved the look and it's super easy to install.

Looks much nicer than the cheapo ball foam screens.

Competitiveness

I considered getting shure’s more expensive windscreen for the sm57, but since this one works so perfectly for me, i really hav...  Read More

There is a fix for that and it makes the sm57 more than 100 percent bullet proof against plosives.

It didn't do so completely though and i switched to the a81ws which is way more expensive but does a better job.

It sounds as good as an sm7 now, at least to my poorly trained ears.

Its not going to pull off neither is it going to destroy the ascetics of the sm57 if later repurposed for instrument micing

But when you pay 100 dollars for a sm57 accessories should be basically free
