The sound is crisp and clear, with out too much bass. It is spectacularly precise and solid. Most mp3 players sound systems allow you to fiddle with the settings.

The sonys are for the gym. The sony earphones are a bit easier to insert and sit more comfortably in the ear than the shures.
Cons
The design has a fatal flaw. Only jiggling the wire right at the earbud would cause a quick reconnect.

For the under 200$ genre of personal in ear monitors these are superior in overall sound reproduction.
Com, where they have these e3cs for $127 and 7.
The 130$ i spent on these was way worth it!

I have received these headphones a few days ago and since then have been spending much time comparing them to my past headphones.
I would compare shures e3 sound to the taste of honey, to the sights of kauai, or to the feel of my beautiful wifes.

However having gotten to try both a pair of 20 in ear headphones and a pair of the sony v700 headphones that every dj and their mom owns i decided to spend the extra money to pick up a pair of shure e3 headphones rather than the ultrasone dj1 pro headphones i had been drooling over
