Pros & Cons
Pros
Shure cushions fit perfectly on my audio-technica ath-m50x. No popping off, and best of all they actually make the headphones sound better. I highly suggest getting the ear pad adapters 3d printed instead of using tearing the stock pads.
Shure hpaec 1840 velour pads are far more comfortable than the original pads both in material and fit. The outer ring portion of the pad is also much softer and more supple. They certainly feel way hotter, stiffer and smaller than stock pads. Nb, i ha... Read More
Comfortable cushion padding. The velour material is not hot as some reviewers have said.
Soft, breathable, yet still retains a good seal. Highs are less shrill and there's a nice little bass bump now.
Hpaec940 are a tight fit with shp9500, but doable. They increase the clamping for just a touch, to keep them more snug.
Cons
The plastic ring on the inside that determines the shape is misshapen and distorted. I doubt this is a manufacturing fluke, because both pads are bad. Plus, the sound leakage is notably worse.
Highlights
Quality
Introductioni am very happy with the shure hpaec 1840 velour pads.
Nice quality as an ear pad replacement for my ps4 gold headphones.
My only fault with the product, and its only a personal con, is that being someone with smaller ears, these pads felt a bit lar... Read More
I believe if you like more bass, then you may want to try the shure pads as a replacement for the m50x pads.
Price
Wow, these are infinitely better than the stock srh440 ear cushions.
So much better than the stock shp9500 earpads.
If you're like pretty much everyone who's ever bought the philips shp-9500, you know how terrible the stock earpads are.
Packaging/appearance
I am using these ear pads to replace stock ear pads on the ath-m50x.
Feels much better than stock pads on the m50x and don’t change the sound by any noticeable degree.
The bass response is much less pronounced, which might be a plus if you weren't to crazy about the bass in the m50x in the first place.
I guess some soundwaves leak out of the softer material.
Competitiveness
Using these on fostex r50rp mkiii headphones.
I used these, like lots of people, on a pair of fostex t50rp mk3s, and they are wonderful.
These were purchased for a pair of fostex t20rp mk2 but the cups are much too large to accommodate the hpaec 1840.
Used it on a ath-m50, after the original ear cup pealed.

Bought them for my srh440 because i heard it would improve the bass sound plus the originals were ripping apart after 4 years

The stock pads are as nearly everyone points out fairly uncomfortable

I initially replaced with brainwavz pads which are incredibly comfortable but which change the sound of the fostex phones substantially
