Pros & Cons
Pros
Electrostatic design allows for ultra-low thd (total harmonic distortion), which make these extremely non-fatiguing for long listening periods. They require their own dedicated amplifier/dac. Battery life is better than i expected for an amplifier tha... Read More
Spinfit tips allow the kse1200 to twist into place like a type of cap that completes the sealing of these buds in place. Bass of the se846 is very tight down to about 50hz.
The shape of the kse1200 has a more rounded shape. These are costly, but if you are interested in in-ear-monitors, you won't be looking to replace these in the foreseeable future.
Cons
When listening to my dsd files, it's only a bit clearer than my denon d5000. Still, i have to be cautious to not open my mouth, be cause the jaw opening moves the tmj.

Sound quality so fine, music is now at therapeutic levels.
Value wise probably not worth the price even with the discount i got.
Amps and dacs are a false economy - they can never improve the sound quality, only determine the base line sound quality in the... Read More
Price
The only remaining downside (other than price) is having to carry an electrostatic amp around.
And the cable that connects it through micro usb is prone to bending which destroys it and cost $28 to replace.
Since listening to music is about the emotion - if some extra sub-bass resonance (even if it didn't actually exist in the recor... Read More
The price is the only deciding factor with this product, everything else is exceptional quality and design.

But more importantly, i finally had an iem that was sort of portable (still requires its own amp unit, unlike iems in general, ... Read More
I owned stax electrostats in the 90's, and while they really are very fast, they have some drawbacks.
Packaging/appearance
They have plastic nozzles, which worries me as i've torn off plastic shure nozzles in the past, just trying to remove the eartips.
But it's a little dated now and there's a chance you already own a better dac than the one built into the kse1500.
It's metal, sure it's metal so it can be removed to customize sound thru filters, the se846 feel so much sturdier.
Competitiveness
I have compared these against many topend iems including laylas.
I own some really nice iems, including the shure se846, sennheiser ie800, and akg 3003.
It is insanely expensive and it's not nearly as portable as a regular pair of iems.
It's hard to make electrostats into iems.
