I think i paid close to the same price when i bought the original many years ago.
Competitiveness
It really beats other more expensive mics that i have, especially for loud singing - musicals/opera/rock etc.

As per the opinions of other reviewers, the sm58 is more durable and better built than the xm5800, which may well be true.

Ive dropped the mic accidentally two or three times from my tower pc to the floor which is a distance of 43
