Inexpensive 1tb ssd that has a metal case, usb c 3.
I bought an extension (6') usb3 cord, relocated it away, and that resolved the issue.

Came preformatted in fat32 which means you cant have files over 4gb so i will have to format it to exfat or ntfs

I feel better using a solid state drive but i am still going to back it all up to the cloud because they say if a ssd fails there is virtually nothing you can do to recover your files

Data transfer is super fast and they dont have a bunch of bloatware or files that take up space however its not a secure drive
