If you have been just upgrading from the past os you need to go to the recovery mode and attempt to reinstall os you really dont have to reinstall but this process will prompt you to update the firmware

Once you follow the process your mac is ready to boot from nvme drive in which you should have cloned or backed up your os from the past

I didnt test the actual read write speeds but i can say windows was loaded almost instantly after the boot sequence

I noticed this drive listed and at the time it was the cheapest nvme 256gb drive you could buy on amazon
