I needed the extra magnification of the smaller mirror there are magnets built into the face of the big mirror and the smaller 10x mirror just sticks to it and snaps behind when not using it

That all being said in the end after all of my research i figured the newest top mirror was only about 50 more than the older ones with less features

I love the fact that you can control the amount of time that the light remains on my older one did not have that option and constantly turned off forcing me to wave my hand to turn it bak on during makeup application

Unit sat on a shelf and when i replaced it with the new one it was too tall and would not angle down point down as much so i had to adjust the shelf

The sensitivity level of the light activation feature is perfect not too sensitive and not too hard to activate
