The cinch around the head is tightened to fit and has a lot of room to grow. The chin strap stays on with another cinch button that can be tied into an adorable bow. It is machine washable and the drawstrings make it easy to adjust sizing.

Cons

Go with velcro or no plastic pieces on hat straps. The brim is too floppy and constantly hangs over the babies eyes and he can't see. Very cheap buckle.
