Good seal between the top and bottom though no leaks out just a tiny bit perhaps from compartment to compartment

I enjoy the entire sistema line this size is great for kids lunchboxes and we have no issue with leaking out of the lid however the two compartments are not separated enough to prevent liquid transfer

If you take the gasket out and clean out any food that may get stuck in the crevice you shouldnt have a mold issue
