I had an old receiver that stopped working it worked when i put the switch to on but wouldnt work with a remote even after trying to sync the remote

You need someone who can install the device that attaches to the fireplace and then after that you have to read a page of very small print to have it in sync to the remote with a new device you install on your fireplace

The only thing i had to do besides hooking up the leads on the transmitter and plugging in the power cord was to insert the point of a paper clip into the learn function hole in the transmitter box and then press any button on the remote to activate the remote
