The cosmere universe seems a little daunting. Nevertheless it's an enjoyable series. I know that comparison is anathema in the sci-fi lit community, but if this one isn't better, it is dang close.

Also the sequels are still ya novels instead of whatever happened in xenocide and children of the mind

The little box the books come in isn’t very sturdy but not a big deal if on a shelf

It took me a little to get into this series and some of the plot points especially around the slug were telegraphed from a mile away

There are a few plot holes but nothing egregious especially for a ya series
