i am enjoying replacing the old paperbacks with these hardback editions. They are sturdy and comfortable in the hands.

Death is about people and our need to believe in the little lies (like tooth fairies, santa claus, various deities) it's also about those big lies and why we have to believe them. Horrifying, in reflecting the current reality of human belief.

Brutha, the main character, is a naïve novice monk in omnia. The church of om rules the omnian empire. Pratchett depicts the adventures of the god om, suddenly incarnate as a tortoise.



Cons

There is one uneven coat of paint and they left masking tape on all of the edging in an unsuccessful attempt to miss it with their paintbrushes. Omnia goes to war, then it doesn't. Brutha is a very dull character.

It has the feel of sophomore philosophy majors sitting 'round the quad on a saturday night, dateless and full of mockery.

Small gods is a very bland, very dreary story that doesn't say anything very original or interesting about religion. It feels like pratchett's using him as his mouthpiece to put across his views on religion. The chief reason for my disillusionment is ...  Read More
