Pros

There is a collar with internal splines that holds the hex shank wich drives the gear assembly. I also have a blue sea mini 300 amp shut off, power protector. My only complaint is that the controller is not magnetic.

The winch is fantastic. Replaced my old winch on my tj. Very happy with performance soo far.

The setup easily pulls my lifted jeep unlimited. And at least 5 times to get my rig out of a tight spot. I spend the whole rest of the evening getting it put in my truck, routing the wires, getting everything all pretty.

Cons

Winch is malfunctioning. Pulled a ram 3 feet then nothing. Had to disassemble control box to re solder red wire and shorten the cable. Even with the car parked right up against the trailer ramps it cuts out before it is all the way on the trailer.

I feel this is completely disrespectful to the 4x4 community and just plain wrong. Shame on them for the greed. Brand is junk.

Competitiveness

Since warn and smittybuilt both have the chinese build their winches i bought this smittybuilt because it was cheaper than the warn.

(smittybilt 12k) practically the same thing as the 10k.
