The holder is also discrete, so if you don't always use or carry a pencil, the case is still perfectly fine. The storage for the apple pencil works really well--especially like how easy it is to extract the pen by the slot.
Back and front are covered in a soft almost fabric like materiel. The synthetic texture is grippy and looks good. The exterior material has a nice texture so it’s easier to hold on.
I really like the durability of this case. The case is so durable. That's my only nit, though, and the case otherwise merits a strong recommendation.
Case fits the mini & the pencil well. Apple pencil fits perfect and snug so it doesn't seem like it will slip out. All the cutouts are exactly where they should be.
The cover makes it a little difficult to change volume and turn off the ipad but workable. And it also stands up vertically for watching content well too. It has a cover that turns off the display when closed and can be used to prop at various angles.... Read More
Cons
Apple mini 5th generation fits so tightly that air bubbles pop up under the glass screen protector. Probably won't last 6 months. Better to look elsewhere for something more durable.

You can barely notice the size difference when closed with the pencil slot.

However be aware this case does not a fit tampered glass protector as its edges go over and surround the screen with a very precise margin not a bad thing though it will squeeze the corners of protector and causing it to detach from screen when applying a glass screen protector
