Pros & Cons
Pros
The a6100 has the same sensor as the a6000 but the autofocus system is better. Nice upgrade from my previous a6000. I often shoot in rain, snow and wind and the camera holds up everytime.
Only stabilization is missing but everything else is there. Menu a bit tedious, but manageable. It's beyond capable.
Small built-in flash works fine for close subjects or as a fill flash. Eye tracking autofocus for people and pets is great. Higher iso speeds are also usable but require more finesse to strike a nice balance between noise and detail.
Photo quality is excellent and a huge step up from a smaller sensor camera, and especially a cell phone. The camera displays battery life as a percentage.
The screen on the back of the camera is fairly sharp and bright. The camera automatically switches between the two. Crisp, accurate colors are the two stand outs regarding this camera. Colors are accurate and saturated, but not over the top.
Cons
Nothing is standar. Tried to move a flashcard from another camera,. Specifications are poor.
Highlights
Quality
Dynamic range is excellent and i am able to recover a lot of lost highlight and shadow detail.
Sony’s a6100 mirrorless camera is well made.
After manually focusing it takes several seconds after the shot in order to get back to a live view.
The screen tilts down or flips over for selfies.
Price
With this pricing, the a6400 has not only leveled the playing field—it’s transformed it.
From a true professionals perspective, it's worth it to spend that large amount of money for incremental improvements.
8couldn't ask for anything more from a camera in that price range
As someone who’s owned a canon eos m50, i’d pay the extra few hundred bucks for the a6400 any day.
Packaging/appearance
I purchased this because i needed a light weight camera to carry while hiking and back packing.
Competitiveness
The a6100 is the best ratio of quality to dollar spend across all brands in my opinion.
Compared to my 1 inch sensor sony rx100 v6 i can shoot at much higher iso speeds on the a6100.
With that being said, the 6100 has the same sensor (as far as i can tell) as the 6400 and 6600 at a fraction of the price.
The older a6500 costs nearly $1,400, and while canon has cheaper options, they’re hardly comparable in functionality.

As a youtube creator myself i’ve found its autofocus tracking and video profiles convenient but while its flipscreen and microphone jack are both great features they’re poorly implemented as the microphone mount blocks the flipscreen a frustrating tradeoff

The short battery life is also a shame though again these flaws are far from dealbreakers
