Pros & Cons
Pros
We were pleasantly surprised that they still worked. The sound quality and frequency range are decent, especially when using the mega bass feature. They sound like a pair of logitech z150 computer speakers with just a tad more bass.
It has a great sound for the it's size and so portable. Has a radio, can use batteries or plugin. The battery option offers portability and use in emergency situations.
Sony cfd-s70 has an easy-to-read digital display. Telescoping antenna helps tune in some of the long-distance, weaker fm radio stations. There is a slot in the back to store and protect the antenna when not in use.
Sony usually has quality merchandise. I'm loyal to this brand and never disappointed. Very satisfied so far.
Wow and flutter is about average for a portable unit. Less noticeable with rock/edm/rap/etc. You are not going to be throwing any parties out with this thing, it is a boombox for personal listening.
Cons
This is the third model i have bought and it has stopped working in less than 3 months. It's laughable, if it was for me i would be sending it back. Difficult to read the control * (black on black) even following manual, pressing volume + and play mod... Read More
The speaker doesn't even have any frickin' bass boost.
Highlights
Quality
The sound quality is clear and true to the cd & cassette recordings or radio stations being played.
Overall this player is excellent in sound as well as quality.
This uses a permanent magnet erase head and a 2-channel stereo play/record head driven with ac-bias.
Almost all wires are connected with actual connectors, nothing soldered permanently in place.
Price
An inexpensive small cd player with good sound.
Easily forgiven at $60, but utterly unacceptable at $170.
For $60 dollars back in 2020, this was a steal.
For the money, is a good portable unit.
Shipping
I miss the days when boomboxes had a little window on the cd player to see the disc spinning.
Competitiveness
Sony has always been my brand for a slightly more expensive product, but a more reliable product that will last.
