The sharpness and image quality puts it almost in the same league as the gm lenses are. It weighs less than a pound, so it can always be in your bag for when you need to go wider. This is normal and not a defect within the lens.

The focusing system uses xd (extreme dynamic) linear focus motors, so when off your camera the focus is not engaged.

The pictures attached are raw pcitures without edits.
