If you have a problem with the sound quality from its tiny, low end speaker you just don't know a lot about speakers.
I received it this morning and am very happy with the reception i get even without the antenna extended.
The quality of the sound is very good.
Price
Sony has discontinued this radio and i note that the asking price is now $155 for a $20 radio.
However, the price escalated from $10 to $169!

00 including shipping charges directly from sony.
Competitiveness
It's a good radio but not worth $155.
I bought this radio directly from sony's website several years ago.
A classic, unsurpassed by sony's newer model.

I suggest that on your sony page you tell protentional buyers that although the radio has an ear jack it does not come with a set of earphones that you can plug into the ear jack
