The sound quality is well above te price range (unlike the later models) and they are very tough.
I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality though.

I am still using these heaphones oct 2014 and would purchase again
They have a reasonable level of low/mid freqs (for earphones) - miles better than beats or apple's offerings.

Ive even dropped one in acrylic paint while housepainting and after cleaning it it worked fine with only a minor reduction in sound volume
