Pros & Cons

Update Pros and Cons

Pros

Frequency response is pretty dang flat, very accurate and suitable for studio use. They produce a natural sound, unlike the overly bass-heavy tripe of so many popular brands. The various instruments are so clear that i could hear mark's fingers slide ...  Read More

The sound quality is still sensational. The padding is still intact and has not lost it's shape. The foam pads do degrade and need to be replaced -- but they're inexpensive and easy to find here on amazon.

Headphones don't exaggerate any part of the music that i'm hearing and these are them! They also come with a coiled cable is of good quality. Although this is a headphone meant for monitoring, it is perfectly suitable for listening too.

It's a shame that these are now discontinued.

The 1/4 adapter is superb and it screws on which is great. I feel this is better than bose, which i had borrowed from a friend.

Cons

The volume has to be played so high, it becomes fatiguing. Avoid these dreadful headphones and find a multitude of better options.

The cups are so shallow that my ears rubbed and were pressed on during use.

Quality

This pair of headphones is well build and deliver a rich sound.

I love the sound quality, isolation (without cancellation software) and lightweight yet rugged construction of these.

My first pair lasted 20-25 years of heavy use before they started falling apart.

These were primarily created decades ago to be accurate at audio reproduction, so people could more easily find errors and issu...  Read More

Price

At the price i paid, these were an excellent buy.

It is a great wired headphone for the price i paid ($60).

Sorry to the seller, this price hike is crazy.

I've seen these being sold for over $300.

Shipping

I got them within 2 days of ordering them, and i cannot relay enough superlatives for this product.

Packaging/appearance

My packaging came with the "newer" more subdued packaging that sony introduced in the 2010s.

I should say it came with a nylon bag, but other signs say this is a genuine article.

Competitiveness

I feel this is better than bose, which i had borrowed from a friend.

They produce a natural sound, unlike the overly bass-heavy tripe of so many popular brands.

The mdrv6 headphones very similar to sony's famous mdr-7506 headphones, which are widely-used in studios around the world.

I much prefer the mdr-v6 over the brighter sounding mdr-7506 and the unique tuning of the mdr-cd990st.
