Pros
Noise cancellation isn't a feature, but that's not something he required, so all good. The sound cancellation is the same as in-ear headphones. Bass is also good, just the right level. Wires looks good.
Bought these for my mother in law as she's just got a residency in ibiza. They’re very lightweight and good sound. He can't fault them, & they look great too!
Amazing headphones, fit comfortably, aren’t tight over the head and ears like some headphones. My first on-ear headphones.

Price
I just needed a basic pair of headphone and these really meet that at an affordable price .
These ones do a reasonable job of that and sound pretty good for the price of around £20.
Budget headphones for my son, while his wireless ones are charging.
Of course, for the price you do not get noise cancelling.

Good service, delivery good, just standard headphones.
Came all in good time, product is very good and sound is very clear.
Competitiveness
I have a set of sony mdr-v150 headphones which i bought a few years ago for a similar price.
For the money i find them remarkably good, better than these mdrzx310 headphones, but it seems you can't buy the v150s any more.

The volume is not very high and you can still hear what is going on around you but nothing that bother

Monitor headphones should have a fairly flat frequency response not boosting the bass for example

Anyway i can always pay more for something higher up the sony range if sound quality is of top importance like the mdr7506
