This is my first nicer camera, so it's definitely a big upgrade from what i'm used to. The camera works flawlessly. There is some vignetting with the kit lens when it's fully open, but this is kinda expected.

It delivers clean and sharp video, basically usable up to 3200 iso. The one quirk with this camera is that for avchd, it doesn't film in anything besides 1080p. The audio for recording isn't the greatest but it works.

The flip screen is really great on monitoring yourself for face recording or taking selfies. The touch screen is very responsive as a touchscreen compared to other cameras. The viewfinder tilts and works well.

Cons

Yes this is original sony nex5 camera but it misses certain features especially 3d sweep panorama. The battery drains very fast so i am afraid that it cannot last long enough for taking 300 pictures.

The touchscreen has below average resolution and is cumbersome to use even for simple tasks. The screen is bent and this is obviously a defect product. It sounds like it probably got slammed around during shipping and that caused it to break.

I love the quality build of sony cams.

Great camera and really light and versatile.

Battery died in less than a year and had to contact sony about replacing.

I don't know if the battery was defective, but it should not last 2 days.

The touch screen is an amazing added bonus that i can't believe they included with this price tag.

I didn't want anything too expensive, or too new - and this fit my budget rather well.

Competitiveness

You can use a variety of different lenses from sony and other brands which makes this much closer to a dslr than to a point and shoot.

The ability to use other brand lenses from nikon, canon, contax and more via cheap adapters is another plus.
