Pros & Cons
Pros
Before we start, the first thing we should tackle is the price. Beautifully manufactured. Compact but with heft; feels substantial. Nice and compact, has a beautifully machined chassis.
Sony wh-1000xm3/sennheiser momentum 3 headphones. Low-impedance earphones deliver the volume. Sony's headphone software recovers near-hq quality from a standard track.
The vinyl processor gives a really authentically vinyl, warm sound. Detail retrieved in a lifelike way from multiple hi-res files.
For a long haul flight an external battery (eg anker powercore+ mini £14. Is recommended. The battery is also great, it advertises up to 18 - 20 hours.
Android os and wi-fi access. Sony headphone app and music centre apps are well designed and intuitive to use. The latter is good at organising your music and retrieving music by artist, albums, tracks and genre.
Cons
With battery saver on, the interface is laggy and the interactions aren't as smooth as you would expect. Doesent feel premium for price. It's nose diving from the minute you unplug the charger.
Highlights
Quality
- most importantly, the audio quality is very good and an engaging listen.
Build and sound quality is, as you'd expect, superb and definitely justifies the relatively high pricethe only minor negative ... Read More
The reality is that this difference in audio quality is not 'a bit'.
Also the sound quality / volume is not the best i have heard which i am surprised due to the nature of the item.
Price
If the price was a bit lower, this would be 5 stars all the way.
Is of no interest to me on this device.
If these were £100 cheaper they would be the best selling player in that mid price bracket imho.
Before we start, the first thing we should tackle is the price.
Packaging/appearance
I subscribe to tidal premium so installed the app from the playstore - fast and simple.
Build & usage============firstly kudos to sony for the largely cardboard packaging.
Competitiveness
I have multiple 256gb cards that i keep in a credit card sized holder.
The out of the box impression is of a well-made product which feels robust and slightly larger/heavier than the a105.
It's like reading a 1980s hi-fi magazine.
However, having tried it with three in-ear buds/ phones, i can confirm that the loudness is fine - unless you want hearing damage.
