Cons

When using the timer function, it rejects the dvd it just recorded to when the timer tries to recor again. Sony warranty is worthless.

Sony 500 serie freezes up on certain dvd's. Dvd door opens and closes randomly when plugged into the wall.

No playback on the vx535 dubbed dvd. The picture received from the satellite receiver through the player is lousy, so this machine couldn't possibly record a decent picture to play back. Picture from playing vhs tapes on the new machine is terrible.
